I don’t usually buy shoes on-line without having tried them on at a store, but I was browsing the VS catalog and was hooked by their Colin Stuart peep-toe platforms. They’re available in different color combinations but I had to have these nude mary-janes with  neon pink heels. I can’t wait to wear them for Fashion Week!

I love the hot pink button that matches the heels!

It’s time to shop for Fall and if you only buy one pair of shoes this time around, make them clogs. You won’t be disapointed. This is the hottest trend for Fall for it’s versatility and wow factor. The trend is this year’s comeback kid championed by the talented Karl Lagerfeld who was the first to  re-introduce the style on the  Chanel runway.  If you still have a pair from the ’70s you might be covered depending on your style. But the clog has evolved so much since the disco age that you might want to invest in an updated version and keep your age a secret. Whether you’re new to clogs or a returning fan you might be overwelmed with so many styles and designers, so I’ve compiled a small shopping guide for all fashionistas to enjoy!

For the girl who’s looking to incorporate all Fall trends into one shoe:

I know that keeping my heels in good condition is a full time job and I welcome a product that will help me do that, but I came across a product that I think I’ll pass on. The Heels Away is a slip-on heel protector with a wide base so you don’t sink into the grass or crack in the sidewalk. I applaud the inventors for their imagination and business savy, but it  just looks a little too cheesy for me. It’s so noticable and cheap looking. Why whould you cover-up your $600 louboutins with a plastic $3 cup? I’ve mastered the talent of walking the sidewalks of NYC with one eye on the crowd  and the other on where I’m stepping.  This method has worked for me so far and I think I’ll stick with it. Let me know what you think of the Heels Away.

A big must-have for this summer is a pair of studded shoes.  Women have been spotted wearing this eye-catching trend all over town, day and night!  Designers like Suecomma Bonnie and (the classic) Christian Louboutin have studded up the runway this time of year.

Although studs may seem like a darker and more autumn/winter look, bedazzled footwear has made a summer appearance.  In this sweltering heat, women tend to dress more casual and simplistic, but adding a pair of studded stilettos or boots (Jeffrey Campbell has a good selection) will give that “wow-affect” to any look, including a white T-shirt and cut-offs.  Another summer tip is to buy a pair of jazzed up sandals, which will be both comfortable appropriate for these upcoming sunny days.  For the recessionista, Steve Madden makes a great pair of metal-accessorized gladiators, so stud up your style, even as the temperature climbs!

The high-octane shoe designer Ruthie Davis recently had a chat with me about her career, her fierce F/W ‘10 collection, and celebrity fans. Read-up on this lovely lady and  get to know Ruthie Davis because she’s here to stay!

I first spotted Ruthie in the tents at fashion week (FW ‘10), she was wearing her ‘Sushi Rock & Roll’ pumps and they stood out in a sea of NY’s best heeled women, so that says a lot! She was there to watch her collection walk down the runway in the Dennis Basso show, so I snapped her photo for our street fashion page- Shoes on the street, and claimed my seat at the DB show with the rest of the photographers. Ruthies shoes stole the show, it was hard to see anything but the spikes and double platforms of her dark and complex creations.  But all of that was months ago, and now her FW ‘10 collection is in stores ready to be picked up and loved by deserving women. Here’s a look at the collection again and stores where you can purchase!
