Hup, Two, Three, Four

By Rachel Guillaume

When you think of summer, you might think of flowers, sunshine, honeybees and ladybugs, among many other obviously girly things. But, this summer, tough chics rule as the military and army inspired trends highlight the inner bad-ass in us all.

For the past couple of seasons, embellishments and eye-catching trims have been emphasized. With army inspired shoes and accessories, embellishments are even more apparent and diverse. Brass buttons, metal studs, and utilitarian pockets are just a few of the military inspired decorations. These embellishments can be found on any type of shoe; whether they’re a pair of studded, canvas trainers or a couple of leather, buckle wedges. You can choose any style and exude chic-ness, but still maintain that “don’t-mess-with-me” edge.

Be “At Ease” with this trend’s Advantages:

  1. Earth tones are versatile! The color palette is neutral so it goes with a variety of colors.
  2. Go from casual to glam! Shift from day to night with a plethora of embellishments and styles. You can wear perforated leather booties that have just enough decorations to transfer from a day look to a night look.
  3. Try 2 trends at once! Rock a pair of nude-colored lace-up booties to combine a natural order with a militant vibe.
  4. The shoes make the outfit! Embellished shoes don’t need extra flashy clothes to go with them – try a plain white tank with cargo pants and camouflage platform sandals.
